#1 – Chicken Curry with Vegetables

Let’s start presenting myself. I’m Cristina, I live in Milan and I LOVE COOKING.

Today is the first day of, I hope, a long journey through the wonders of taste. Our first station is…..the food steamer!

Excited? Are you thinking that the cooking steam food is boring and sad? That it is just food for wellness maniac?

Ok, my mission today is to change your mind!

Let’s start cooking the Chicken Curry with Vegetables.

For two persons you need:

  • 1 beet
  • 3 carrots
  • 2 zucchini
  • 1 eggplant
  • ½ kg of chicken
  • 130 gr of basmati rice
  • 1 scallion
  • 6 cherry tomatoes
  • Curry powder
  • 50 gr of butter
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Black pepper
  • ¼ glass of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of flour
  • Salt

Preparing the chicken, the vegetables and the rice

Cut the chicken into thin strips and put it into a dish with the black pepper and the salt. Add the oil and the lime juice and then mix well. Let the chicken marinate for 15 minutes before put it into the steamer.

Meanwhile, wash the vegetables and cut them into medium size pieces. Prepare a container with the basmati rice mixed with a tablespoons of oil, salt and a glass of water. Put the rice, the chicken and the vegetables into the steamer (pay attention! I use a stemer with three floors (and 1800 watt). I put in the first floor the vegetables, in the second the meat and in the last floor the rice. You have to follow the instructions of your steamer).

Put on the top of the rice the cherry tomatoes, close the steamer and cook the food for 15/20 minutes.

Preparing the sauce

Sauté the finely chopped scallion with the butter until it begins to soften, then close the fire and add two tablespoons of flour, a glass of water, salt, black pepper and the curry powder. Mix well with a blender.

La mise en place (use your imagination)

Take a large dish, put on it the rice, add the vegetables and the chicken and, finally, put on the top the curry sauce.

Serve immediately!
