I love METRIC!

I love METRIC and its music…

METRIC is an independent Canadian rock and roll band with an innovative approach founded in 1998 and composed by Emily Haines (vocalist), Jimmy Shaw (guitarist), Joshua Winstead (bassist) and Joules Scott Key (drummer).

Their last album SYNTHETICA was released on June 12 2012. Futuristic and organic, as described by themselves,  this album is the culmination of all the music made by the band in their 10 years together. First single “Youth Without Youth”, released to the internet on April 30 2012, examines the fraying social state with a bristling energy and a driving beat. “Breathing Underwater” delivers the classic METRIC chorus of soaring melancholy, while the lyrics for “Lost Kitten” and “Clone” call out some bad behavior and their consequences. Hard rocking title track “Synthetica” offers an epic conclusion to suspenseful album opener “Artificial Noctune.”

METRIC self-released their prior album FANTASIES worldwide on April 2009 and earned multiple approvals with songs such as “Gimme Sympathy” and “Gold Guns Girls”. They have been sold over a million singles and 500,000 albums worldwide.

FANTASIES earned METRIC “Album of the Year” and “Band of the Year” at the Canadian Juno Awards, and the band finished 2010 with their music featured in two major Hollywood films including the Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

METRIC released also other three albums:

  • Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? (2003)
  • Live It Out (2005)
  • Grow Up and Blow Away (2007)

METRIC are now on tour and we are looking forward to their landing in Italy!
